Overview:

Contemporary artists respond to the ancient art and artefacts in the Egyptian Galleries. Quinn creates a transparent head that sits amongst the Gods of Resurrection and contains a hibernating frozen frog.

The exhibition demonstrates that the creative link between the past and the present is as strong and as vital as ever.

The exhibition contains works from a range of different artists, all of whom the themes and forms of Egyptian art have been somehow influential or have found a resonance within their own work. Other artists include Stephen Cox, Andy Goldsworthy, David Hiscock, Liliane Karnouk, Rita Keegan, Jiri Kolar, Alexander Mihaylovich, Igor Mitoraj, Peter Randall-Page, Martin Riches and Kate Whitteford.

Curated by James Putnam.
